We found the perfect livestock guardian breed
in the Antaolian Shepherd, but locating an actual
dog proved challenging. As we have done with
all of our livestock breeds, we wanted to obtain
the best possible genetics. We wanted both
excellent working characteristics and
conformation. After an exhaustive search, we
located one of the United States' top breeders
and trainers of champion-bred working
Anatolians, Lucky Hit Ranch in Texas.
We contacted Erick Conard of Lucky Hit Ranch
and were disappointed to hear that his next two
litters of pups were all reserved. Erick was
excited to hear of our farming/ranching plans
and made us a offer we couldn't refuse. He
agreed to partner with us on his 18 month old,
well-trained and high conforming female of very
high breeding potential - Lucky Hit's Autumn Tawny.
Erick is a breeder of highest integrity. He
personally drove to Oregon (3000 miles round
trip) to assure that Tawny was going to a great
home. Tawny now has run of our 40 acres of
pastures meadows and woods and keeps them all
predator free. Our Icelandic Sheep and Lambs
and our Mini-Nubian dairy goats follow Tawny to
the woods each day to browse on blackberry
shoots.
